Operation Round Up - April 2017
The following grants were awarded to local organizations in April 2017.
Cambridge ACT on Alzheimer’s, $1,500 for the purchase of materials for Living Memories kits to be used at the organization’s Memory Café.
City of Pine City, $2,000 toward the purchase of new streetlight banners to be used in strategic commerce areas throughout the city.
Pine Center for the Arts, Pine City, $560 for the purchase of a Samsung tablet, tablet keyboard and stand. The equipment will be used to coordinate classes and events, display and advertise featured artists, and for photography and on-site surveys.
Vasaloppet, Inc., Mora, $2,000 for the purchase of items to be used during the Vasaloppet International Ski Exchange. Items include food, tours and events for participants.
EDUCATION AND YOUTH
Chisago Lakes Community Education, Lindstrom, $1,380 for the purchase of compasses, survival kits, water filtration systems, emergency fire-starter kits, and field guide books for the Wilderness Survival Class and Orienteering Club.
Isle After-Prom Party, $1,000 to assist with costs associated with hosting the after-prom party.
Parkland Community Group, South Range, WI, $2,424 for the purchase of new, toddler-specific slides and swings at the existing playground.
Pine City Backpack Food Program, $2,000 for the purchase of food to be distributed over weekends and holidays. Currently, 53 students are served through the program.
Pine City Post-Prom Committee, $1,000 to assist with costs associated with hosting the after-prom party.
Rum River Bandits, Cambridge, $1,000 toward the purchase of new signs at Sandquist Park in Cambridge. The fields at the park are used by the Bandits and other teams.
Rush City Senior All-Night Party, $1,000 to assist with costs associated with hosting the all-night party.
Established in 1997, the ORU Trust has put more than $1.5 million to work in local communities. With gifts ranging from one penny to 99 cents per month, participating members have a convenient way to pool their resources for the benefit of the greater community. The average contribution is around $6 per year, and the maximum annual contribution is $11.88.
